A part of growing as an individual is truly putting yourself out there. Opening for the possibility to fail and being open to failure, willing to fail over and over and over again until things just go right. I compete in slam poetry and public speaking, sport, anything I truly love I put myself out there and I can tell you. I have lost every squash match I have ever played in a comp, but I come out glowing each time because every time I play, I ask for advice, I adapt, I overcome and I get better EACH TIME! I verse SUCH better players than me and they know that! But every time I tell them to go all out, don’t hold back on my account and I lose by a smaller margin each time! I’m so close to winning and I wouldn’t be here if I gave up after the first few times I lost! You will lose. There will be days that no matter how hard you prepared, there will be someone better. And that’s great! It’s just another opportunity to grow! Become a more enriched individual, a more driven individual, a wiser individual.
who you are in high school is not who you will be in college and who you are in college is not who you will be when you are 30.
when you accept that you are malleable and ever-changing, you will be less resistant to new ways of thinking and being and you will grow into the beautiful person you are meant to become.
resist the urge to remain stagnant. there are always things to learn about the world and yourself. let yourself learn them.
